Psychologist (Correctional Medicine) – Southern California

 

Position Overview
 Join a mission-driven organization providing compassionate, high-quality mental health services in a secure correctional setting. This full-time Psychologist role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working within a multidisciplinary behavioral health team.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychological evaluations and assessments based on clinical interviews and records review
  • Develop and modify individual treatment plans based on diagnosis and functional needs
  • Provide evidence-based therapy, crisis intervention, and behavioral health support to incarcerated individuals
  • Perform regular mental health rounds, including in segregation and restricted housing units
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and other staff to ensure integrated, coordinated patient care
  • Address acute psychological needs and support de-escalation of high-risk behaviors
  • Maintain thorough documentation and comply with applicable clinical and regulatory standards

 

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Psychology from an accredited institution
  • Active, unrestricted license to practice psychology in California
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, including at least 1 year in a correctional, institutional, or comparable setting
  • Strong clinical, diagnostic, and crisis management skills
  • Ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment within a secure facility
