Our client is a well-established industrial engineering and services organization that specializes in helping large-scale manufacturing and processing facilities improve efficiency, reliability, and environmental performance. They design, manufacture, install, and service critical plant equipment such as air handling systems, material handling equipment, and emissions control solutions.

THE JOB:

The Technical Sales Manager will be responsible for managing and growing a multi-state territory across the Western U.S., with a primary focus on expanding relationships within existing industrial accounts while identifying new opportunities within key facilities.


This is a highly consultative, technical sales role that involves working directly with plant-level stakeholders to identify operational challenges, recommend solutions, and drive project-based sales. The position requires a strong understanding of industrial environments and the ability to build credibility with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams.

The role offers a balance of field-based selling and home office work, with approximately 50% travel required across a geographically dispersed territory.


THE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3–10+ years of experience in industrial environments such as cement, pulp and paper, biomass, utilities, or similar heavy industry
  • Background in roles such as Reliability Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Plant Engineer, Operations Engineer, or Technical Sales
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand and communicate complex equipment and systems
  • Experience working directly within or closely with industrial plants
  • Proven ability to build relationships with maintenance managers, reliability engineers, and operations teams
  • Experience managing or growing existing customer accounts
  • Comfortable with project-based sales cycles (typically 3–9 months)
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% across a multi-state territory
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with CRM tools such as Salesforce is a plus


Nice to Have:

  • Experience with rotating equipment, air handling systems, or material handling equipment
  • Exposure to steam turbines or energy recovery systems
  • Engineering degree


THE BENEFITS

  • Base salary range: $85,000 – $100,000
  • Uncapped commission structure (typically 1%–1.5% of revenue)
  • On-target earnings: $150,000 – $200,000+
