THE JOB

The Project Manager – Building Automation Systems (BAS) will lead the execution of automation and controls projects from kickoff through completion. This individual will coordinate engineering teams, field technicians, vendors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.


This role requires someone comfortable managing both the technical and operational aspects of BAS projects, including project planning, field coordination, customer communication, and financial oversight.


The Project Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the lifecycle of each project and will play a key role in ensuring high-quality project delivery and strong customer relationships.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage BAS projects from initial kickoff through project closeout
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
  • Coordinate engineering teams, field technicians, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Review control drawings, submittals, and sequences of operation
  • Lead project meetings with clients and internal teams
  • Monitor installation progress to ensure quality and design intent
  • Manage project documentation, change orders, and scope adjustments
  • Track project financials including costs, billings, and profitability
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and applicable codes
  • Provide project status updates and maintain strong customer relationships


THE QUALIFICATIONS

Ideal candidates will bring experience managing building automation or controls-related projects in commercial environments.


Required:

  • 3–7 years of experience managing projects involving building automation systems, HVAC controls, or low-voltage systems
  • Experience coordinating engineering teams, field technicians, and subcontractors
  • Familiarity with BAS platforms such as Niagara, Tridium, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Distech, or similar systems
  • Strong project scheduling, budgeting, and coordination skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management skills


Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
  • Experience with project management software (Procore, Smartsheet, or similar tools)
  • Experience in HVAC automation or controls integration environments
