THE JOB

The Project Manager – Building Automation Systems (BAS) is responsible for managing automation and controls projects from initial kickoff through final completion. This role involves coordinating engineers, field technicians, vendors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.


The position requires a professional who is comfortable overseeing both the technical and operational aspects of BAS projects, including planning, field coordination, client communication, and financial oversight.


This individual will serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle and will play a critical role in delivering high-quality results while fostering strong customer relationships.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage BAS projects from kickoff to closeout
  • Develop and oversee project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
  • Coordinate engineering teams, field personnel, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Review control drawings, submittals, and sequences of operation
  • Lead meetings with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Monitor installation progress to ensure quality and adherence to design specifications
  • Manage project documentation, change orders, and scope adjustments
  • Track financial performance including costs, billing, and profitability
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements
  • Provide regular project updates and maintain strong client relationships


THE QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have experience managing building automation or controls-related projects within commercial environments.


Required:

  • 3–7 years of project management experience in building automation systems, HVAC controls, or low-voltage systems
  • Experience coordinating engineering teams, field technicians, and subcontractors
  • Familiarity with BAS platforms such as Niagara, Tridium, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Distech, or similar
  • Strong project scheduling, budgeting, and coordination skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills


Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Experience using project management tools such as Procore, Smartsheet, or similar
  • Background in HVAC automation or controls integration environments
