Title: Accounts Payable Lead (Remote)

Location: Remote

Payrate: $38–$45/hr (Weekly pay + Medical benefits)

Duration: 6-month temp-to-perm (based on performance)

Hours: Full-time | M–F | 8am–5pm (must be able to attend some meetings in CST and EST time zones)


 

***We are currently only reviewing applicants with 5–12 years of Accounts Payable experience and prior experience managing at least one team member within the AP department**

Job Summary:

This role is responsible for processing, managing, and supervising the Accounts Payable department. The position includes ensuring accounting guidelines and company policies are followed, maintaining the general ledger, and ensuring all payments are processed accurately and on time.

 

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage vendor setup and vendor database
  • Serve as Accounts Payable system administrator
  • Manage invoice workflow for approval and payment
  • Review invoices for accuracy, proper coding, approvals, and compliance with accounting guidelines and company policy
  • Process AP-related journal entries and accruals; reconcile and analyze related accounts
  • Process weekly payments in a timely and accurate manner
  • Process quarterly tax payments
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries
  • Manage and file unclaimed payments with state agencies
  • Maintain up-to-date process documentation for all AP tasks
  • Provide supporting documentation for audits
  • Prepare annual vendor tax forms (e.g., 1099s)
  • Support ad hoc projects as needed

 

 

Job Requirements:

  • 5–12 years of Accounts Payable experience as a lead or manager; roles must be focused around AP
  • Prior experience managing at least one team member within the AP department
  • Strong hands-on experience processing invoices, coding, and running the full AP process
  • Comfortable supporting day to day duties in AP and not just delegating.
  • Experience with AP-related journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and account analysis
  • Prior experience supporting process improvements within AP dept
  • Experience working closely with CFOs and senior management on a regular basis
  • Experience with vendors, vendor setup, and maintenance
  • Proficiency with relevant accounting software (NetSuite or Zip)
  • Strong communication and leadership skills — able to guide and patiently support junior AP staff
  • Experience supporting month-end closing duties
  • Experience working in a remote role and managing your day
  • Ability to provide clear, thoughtful direction and maintain high attention to detail
  • Bonus: Experience with HSBC bank payment methods
