Title: Founding Recruiter

Location: San Francisco, CA (in-person, 5 days/week at our SF office)

Reporting Structure: Partner directly with founders and hiring managers

Responsibilities

The First In-House Recruiter will be responsible for:

  • Owning full-cycle recruiting across the company
  • Running end-to-end hiring for Engineering, Product, Operations, and Design roles, and supporting other roles in GTM as needed
  • Partnering with founders and hiring managers to define role scope, seniority, and success criteria
  • Calibrating on candidate quality and tradeoffs
  • Continuously refining interview loops and hiring signals
  • Managing candidates through sourcing, screening, interviews, offers, and closing
  • Proactively sourcing and engaging senior technical talent (engineers, product, design) in a competitive market
  • Running outbound recruiting with creativity and rigor — LinkedIn, referrals, networks, events, cold outreach, and non-obvious channels
  • Confidently engaging technical candidates and speaking credibly about engineering culture and technical challenges
  • Speaking credibly about Artie’s product, architecture, and roadmap (with support from founders)
  • Crafting and delivering a compelling narrative around why Artie exists, why this team is special, and why this is a rare career opportunity
  • Owning candidate experience end-to-end and building a world-class recruiting process that delights candidates
  • Owning and evolving the recruiting process, tools, and operating rhythm
  • Managing and improving the ATS and sourcing tools
  • Tracking and reporting on hiring progress, pipeline health, and bottlenecks
  • Continuously improving speed, quality, and candidate experience as the company scales
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for external recruiting partners
  • Setting expectations, role briefs, and quality bars for agencies
  • Ensuring agencies augment the hiring motion rather than define it


Is this you?

  • 4+ years of recruiting experience, with meaningful exposure to technical recruiting (engineering, product, design)
  • Experience in early-stage startups (Series A–C preferred)
  • Experience owning full-cycle recruiting without large support teams
  • Able to build credibility quickly with senior technical candidates
  • You view recruiting as a sales and persuasion problem
  • Comfortable with outbound, rejection, and ambiguity
  • Strong written and verbal communicator
  • You take responsibility for outcomes, not just inputs
  • You proactively identify problems and fix them
  • You care deeply about quality and long-term team health
  • You have a strong internal bar for talent
  • You know when to push, when to pause, and when to say no
  • Willing to work in-person, 5 days/week at our SF office
  • Comfortable operating with speed, ambiguity, and very little structure


Preferred Qualifications

  • Meaningful exposure to technical recruiting (engineering, product, design)
  • Experience in early-stage startups (Series A–C preferred)
  • Experience owning full-cycle recruiting without large support teams
  • Strong technical intuition
