Meet The Field’s Edge
At The Field’s Edge, our mission is to restore dignity by providing homes for the homeless and encouraging a lifestyle of service inspired by Christ. Founded in 2016 by John-Mark and Briana Echols after years of volunteering with local nonprofits, the couple deepened their commitment by moving to Austin in 2017 for a four-month internship at Community First Village, learning how to build a tiny home community for Midland’s chronically homeless.
We aim to create not just housing, but a true sense of home, supporting people as they rebuild relationships with God, themselves, others, and the rest of creation. Our greatest hope is that our residents experience the love and transformative power of Jesus Christ. We believe that community and relationships are key to overcoming homelessness, so we focus on building these into every aspect of our work.
Our vision is for those who have faced long-term homelessness to find a place to heal and thrive. We also hope our village inspires all Midland residents to better love and serve their neighbors. The Village is open to everyone-come visit, volunteer, share a meal, or even join our community. With the first 10 homes built, we’re just getting started—99 more homes are planned to make this vision a reality!
