Title: Studio Production Engineer
Payrate: $98/hr
Duration: 6-month assignment
Location: Culver City, CA
Hours: Flexible schedule availability, including weekends and off-hours as needed
Summary
We are seeking a Studio Production Engineer to support a high-volume, state-of-the-art 4K UHD multi-camera production and post-production facility. The engineering team supports daily studio operations across broadcast video, lighting, robotic cameras, audio, systems, storage, and network engineering.
In this role, you will provide hands-on technical support for live studio environments, post-production workflows, and delivery pipelines. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced production settings, demonstrates strong problem-solving abilities, and can independently manage tasks while coordinating with internal partners and external vendors.
What You’ll Do
- Provide on-demand support for production and post-production teams
- Support and troubleshoot cinema cameras, lenses, audio/video signal paths, and camera robotics
- Maintain and support production lighting systems and control interfaces
- Troubleshoot and support production asset management (PAM/MAM) workflows
- Maintain and support SAN storage and high-throughput media networking infrastructure
- Work across macOS, Windows, and Linux environments to support production tools and applications
- Coordinate with third-party vendors for equipment repair, upgrades, and integration
- Prioritize and resolve urgent, out-of-band requests to maintain smooth studio operations
- Assist with ongoing improvements to studio and post-production workflows
What You Bring
- 5+ years of technical support experience in live, live-to-tape, or post-production environments
- Strong knowledge of audio/video workflows, protocols, and codecs
- Experience supporting PAM/MAM systems
- Experience supporting large-scale SAN environments for media production
- Expertise in Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and DLC networking for data integrity and performance
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Flexible schedule availability, including weekends and off-hours
Bonus Points If You Have
- Experience maintaining and repairing broadcast equipment (switchers, cameras, routers, audio consoles, lighting, communications systems, fiber systems, SMPTE311 cabling)
- Experience administering macOS, Linux, and Windows systems
- Experience with SAN storage for high-bandwidth media pipelines
- Familiarity with metadata-driven workflow automation
- Ability to create or modify technical drawings (AutoCAD preferred)
- Experience building/terminating video, audio, network, and fiber cabling
