Electrical Engineer

Our client is a multi-disciplinary engineering firm with offices across Canada. We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join their team, based in Abbotsford.

The successful incumbent will play a significant role in designing and implementing various technical aspects of multiple projects. This individual will toggle between production work and communication with clients. This position involves collaboration across disciplines.

We are looking for an intermediate level electrical engineer with experience in residential, commercial, and light industrial. This is an opportunity to work across multiple sectors and contribute to varied projects from start to finish.


Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the engineer-of-record for projects
  • Work within project budgets and schedules, advising managers on schedules and project budgets
  • Independently design lighting and lighting controls, power systems, data layouts, and life-safety systems
  • Perform electrical calculations for power usage, lighting levels, power density, fault currents, equipment sizing, etc.
  • Prepare drawings suitable for building permits, tenders, and construction
  • Efficiently meet project deliverables and deadlines through timely design
  • Independently perform construction administration tasks, such as attending field reviews, reviewing shop drawings, and preparing site instructions and change orders
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and utility providers to provide seamless services to the site
  • Attend client meetings, liaise with clients and colleagues, and uphold professionalism
  • Provide technical mentorship to EITs and Technologists (if applicable)
  • Remain up to date with industry and technical trends, contributing to quality, process, and technical standards
  • Coordinate electrical inspection services and complete technical reports


Qualifications:

  • Degree in electrical engineering or diploma in electrical engineering technology 
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience
  • Registered P.Eng. is preferred, but we will consider EITs with related experience
  • Experience in client management and technical design
  • Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Codes and Building Codes
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with lighting design software
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu and Revit is a major asset
  • Construction or project management experience is an asset
  • Proven organizational and time management skills with keen attention to detail
  • Proactive and able to work in a dynamic work environment
  • A valid driver's license
