They are seeking an experienced Controller to join the leadership team as the current Controller transitions into a Director of Finance role focused on strategic growth.
Position Overview:
They are looking for a hands-on Controller who thrives in a complex, fast-paced environment. This individual will oversee the full accounting cycle, lead cost accounting efforts, stay on top of collections, and partner closely with internal teams. The ideal candidate will be experienced in construction, trades, or restoration, have strong ERP expertise, and bring excellent communication skills to manage financial operations and stakeholder relationships effectively.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee all accounting operations, including billing, A/R, A/P, GL, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition

Manage and stay on top of collections to ensure strong cash flow; work closely with clients and internal project teams
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements, management reports, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow analyses
- Review, streamline, and improve financial processes, internal controls, and procedures
- Support financial due diligence and integration processes for acquisitions
- Maintain compliance with Canadian accounting standards and industry regulations
- Provide proactive financial insights and recommendations to leadership
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, executive team, and day-to-day staff
- Manage payroll, benefits administration, and related compliance
- Mentor and develop the accounting team
Qualifications:
- CPA designation required
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in construction, trades, or restoration industries
- Strong cost accounting background and experience working in complex business models
- Strong collections management skills and ability to work collaboratively with clients and project teams
- Payroll experience required to review and back-up Payroll Administrator

Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) with ability to engage with all levels of staff and external stakeholders

ERP experience required; SPECTRUM Construction Software experience is a strong asset
- Proven success in reviewing and improving financial processes
- Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions is highly preferred

Compensation and Benefits:
