Our client is a well-established, national distributor and importer of premium architectural building products with multiple branches across Western Canada and long-standing relationships with designers, architects, contractors, home builders, and dealers.
They are currently seeking a Director of Sales to grow and evolve the organization through innovation, customer focus, and an outstanding team culture.
The new hire will be responsible for leading and managing the sales function across Western Canada. Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Sales will oversee both the inside showroom and outside sales teams across all branches while driving performance, developing and supporting the team, identifying new business opportunities, and championing a culture of excellence, professionalism, and customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, train, and mentor a high-performance sales team across all branches, including showroom and outside sales teams.
- Establish a team identity focused on efficiency, professionalism, and exceptional service delivery.
- Analyze customer segments in each regional market to identify strengths, gaps, and areas for growth.
- Maximize sales volume, profitability, and market penetration across all product categories.
- Support the team in key client interactions and provide leadership in complex or strategic sales opportunities.
- Ensure accountability, goal tracking, and performance metrics are consistently achieved across regions.
- Develop and implement sales strategies, processes, and standards that align with company objectives.
- Collaborate with ownership and the leadership team to build and enhance CRM systems and reporting tools that support business development and opportunity tracking.
- Ensure effective communication of company initiatives and priorities to all branch-level sales employees.
- Monitor and ensure follow-through on all sales activity, providing guidance and escalation support where needed.
- Identify market shifts and trends; collaborate with marketing and purchasing teams to adjust strategy, messaging, and inventory accordingly.
- Participate in new product selection during key trade shows or vendor meetings as needed.
- Represent the voice of the customer internally and ensure client satisfaction remains at the center of all sales initiatives.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of sales experience within building materials, design products, or related sectors dealing with contractors, home builders, architects, designers, and dealers.
- 3+ years of leadership experience overseeing inside/outside sales teams, ideally in a multi-branch environment.
- Strong coaching, leadership, and team-building skills; known for leading by example.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on support and relationship-building.
- Experience implementing CRM systems and using data to drive performance and track growth opportunities.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify market trends, gaps, and areas for improvement.
- Excellent communication skills – able to act as a bridge between ownership and branch teams.
- Passion for delivering outstanding customer experiences and building a team-driven sales culture.
- Willingness to travel to branch locations and trade shows as required.
Compensation:
- $125,000-175,000 base salary + commission ($250-350k OTE)
