About our client:
Our client is a multi-disciplinary engineering firm with offices across Canada. We are looking for an Intermediate Structural Engineer to join their team in Abbotsford.
The successful candidate will play a key role in structural design and calculations, preparing drawings and construction services. Projects tend to be smaller, with the opportunity to engage in project management and collaborate with multiple disciplines.
Responsibilities:
- Perform structural analysis and design for a variety of municipal, residential, commercial, and industrial projects, including existing buildings and structures
- Complete structural calculations and prepare and edit structural specifications
- Review engineering design for compliance with established codes, standards, and specifications; provides technical support to designers and drafters
- Prepare reports and other technical documentation as required by the client
- Communicate with clients, vendors, and contractors
- Support senior staff with inter-discipline coordination, project reporting, and structural analysis and design
- Provide general project coordination services
- Coordinate with technical staff in preparation of contract drawings and documents and other work tasks
- Coordinate structural designs and documents with other disciplines (Architectural, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Landscaping, etc.)
- Provide structural engineering support during construction, attend site meetings, and carry out field reviews
Qualifications:
- P.Eng or registered as an EIT
- Degree in Structural Engineering
- Minimum 3-5 years of related work experience in an engineering consulting firm
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Self-starter and team player
- Willing to spend time at the client’s office in Abbotsford, although a hybrid work model can be arranged
