About our client


Our client is a successful non-profit organization offering support services to those experiencing mental health issues or facing homelessness in the Greater Vancouver Area.

To further develop and streamline their HR Team, they are seeking a compassionate and strategic Director, HR Talent and Strategy to lead their human resources function and help them grow and sustain a resilient, mission-driven team.

This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional who understands the unique needs of a nonprofit environment and is committed to equity, inclusion, and staff development. Previous experience with unions/labour relations, change management, and training & development are expected.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead Human Resources strategy, policy development, and compliance with employment standards and organizational values.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts to develop a strong, values-aligned team.
  • Provide coaching and support to managers on performance, employee relations, and workforce planning.
  • Develop HR systems and processes, and deliver training leadership and front line managers.
  • Support leadership in organizational design, change management, and succession planning.
  • Cultivate a positive, inclusive workplace culture aligned with our client’s mission.
  • Lead staff engagement and wellness initiatives.
  • Oversee Health and Safety department.
  • Manage the HR reporting processes.

 

Qualifications


  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CPHR designation or equivalent experience is an asset.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in the nonprofit/social services/government sector in a leadership position.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and best practices in people management.
  • Experience in unionized settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

 

Compensation


  • $120,000-140,000 annual base salary.
  • Extended health benefits, municipal pension plan, accrued and flexible paid time off.
