Job Title: Process Engineer


About the Job

The Process Engineer evaluates customer products and specifications to develop manufacturing plans and ensure products are produced according to customer needs. This role requires strong design and manufacturing expertise, as well as an understanding of equipment costs for evaluation purposes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with all aspects of processing, including:
  • Process development
  • System layout
  • Process verification
  • Product/process change impact assessments
  • Cycle time analysis
  • Ergonomic evaluations
  • Joining requirements (welding, SPR, TOX, etc.)
  • Staging and equipment selection/validation
  • Spare parts planning
  • Documentation and manuals
  • Quoting, estimating, and progress reporting
  • Interpret automotive product drawings and manufacturing specifications
  • Ensure ergonomic considerations are incorporated in proposed processes
  • Use PC-based software such as Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Collaborate with Throughput Simulation and Robot Simulation Operators to verify process viability
  • Adhere to safety and environmental regulations at both KUKA and customer facilities
  • Comply with the Quality System and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
  • Perform other departmental duties as needed
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance


Experience & Qualifications


Education:

  • Associate degree from a two-year college, university, or technical school
  • OR 1–5 years of related experience and/or training
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience


Required Skills

  • Language Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, maintenance instructions, schematic drawings, and manuals
  • Able to write reports, correspondence, and lesson plans
  • Strong verbal communication skills for presentations and training
  • Mathematical Skills:
  • Apply advanced math concepts (exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, etc.)
  • Use statistical methods (e.g., variance analysis, correlation, sampling theory)
  • Reasoning Ability:
  • Define problems, gather data, and draw logical conclusions
  • Interpret technical instructions and manage abstract/concrete variables


Physical Demands

  • Regular use of hands, talking, and hearing
  • Frequent standing, walking, and sitting
  • Occasional reaching with hands and arms
  • Frequent lifting/moving of up to 10 lbs; occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs
  • Required vision abilities: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment

  • Generally quiet work environment

  • Domestic travel required
