Quality Inspector
Location: Marriottsville, MD
Pay: $23–24/hour
Schedule: 9/80 work schedule, 7:30 AM start time

Job Summary
Seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector with a background in mechanical/electrical hardware and quality assurance, preferably in defense or aerospace. This role involves inspection under a microscope, BOM oversight, and compliance tracking. Opportunity to convert to a permanent role for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and release specifications and part numbers for new components.
- Apply mechanical and electrical engineering principles to product development.
- Support corrective actions on BOM-related components and research material finishes and platings.
- Assist with sourcing industrial and military-grade components.
- Manage Supplier Product Change Notices, including sourcing, qualification, and approvals.
- Track and manage RoHS-compliant components and part number conversions.
- Oversee BOM transitions from leaded to lead-free components.
- Research global compliance directives such as REACH, RoHS, Conflict Minerals, and WEEE.
- Represent Mercury Systems as the GIDEP liaison.
- Monitor obsolescence, end-of-life notices, and part reliability or quality issues.
- Design mechanical systems using CAD software for defense and aerospace platforms.
- Integrate mechanical systems into larger interdisciplinary defense/aerospace systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and prepare related documentation.
- Support manufacturing during production and assist in design issue resolution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Experience in mechanical design and development, ideally in defense/aerospace.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, IPC-A-610, J-STD, and microelectronics preferred.
- Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering analysis tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate across technical and non-technical teams.
- High attention to detail in design, inspection, and documentation.
- Adaptable to dynamic, fast-paced project environments.
Additional Details
- Candidates should be comfortable inspecting solder joints and components under a microscope.
- Experience with Zentech or MMIC technology is a plus.
- Interviews will be conducted in two stages: a virtual Teams interview followed by an onsite interview if selected.
