About the Role

We are seeking a Registered Land Surveyor to lead surveying tasks for a variety of residential, commercial, and land development projects across the coastal Carolinas. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with engineering, planning, and construction teams.

You will be responsible for overseeing field crews, preparing survey documents, ensuring accuracy of boundary and topographic surveys, and maintaining compliance with state regulations. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects in a fast-growing region while contributing to high-quality deliverables and client satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct and oversee boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction staking, and subdivision surveys
  • Review deeds, plats, legal descriptions, and historical records to determine property boundaries
  • Prepare survey maps, plats, reports, and deliverables with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Manage and guide survey field crews, providing technical direction as needed
  • Ensure compliance with North Carolina and South Carolina surveying standards, regulations, and licensing requirements
  • Utilize surveying equipment (GPS, total stations, data collectors) and software to collect and process survey data
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, contractors, and clients to support design and construction needs
  • Perform quality control checks on all surveying work products
  • Monitor project timelines and help manage workflow to meet deadlines
  • Represent the firm professionally with clients, landowners, and regulatory agencies


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or a related 4-year program
  • OR
  • South Carolina Registered Land Surveyor (RLS/PLS) license
  • Active North Carolina PLS or ability to obtain NC licensure within a reasonable timeline
  • 3+ years of land surveying experience (field and/or office) with a focus on property and site development surveys
  • Proficiency with survey equipment and common software platforms (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson, Trimble, Leica, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of boundary law, land records research, and applicable state codes
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and coordinate field crews
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record



Preferred Skills

  • Experience with coastal or floodplain-related surveying
  • Familiarity with subdivision design and platting requirements in NC and SC
  • Experience working with engineering or land development teams
  • UAV/drone surveying experience (optional but a plus)
