We are seeking an accomplished Water Resources / Stormwater Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our growing team. This senior-level professional will bring deep expertise in watershed hydrology, stormwater infrastructure, and municipal system design. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical skills with proven leadership ability—guiding projects, mentoring junior staff, and serving as a trusted advisor to clients.


Key Responsibilities

· Lead the planning, design, and analysis of stormwater systems, including conveyance, detention/retention, green infrastructure, and flood mitigation projects.

· Perform watershed- and system-level hydrologic/hydraulic analyses for municipal clients.

· Manage and review work prepared by junior and mid-level engineers, providing mentorship and technical oversight.

· Serve as a technical resource for multidisciplinary project teams and support business development through client engagement and proposal development.

· Ensure compliance with municipal, state, and federal stormwater regulations.

· Periodic travel with some overnight stays will be required.


Required Qualifications

· Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.

· 10+ years of progressive experience in water resources engineering, with an emphasis on stormwater management and municipal systems.

· Demonstrated expertise in analyzing watershed hydrology and stormwater piping networks.

· Strong understanding of stormwater permitting and regulatory frameworks (e.g., MS4, NPDES, TMDL requirements).

· Proven ability to lead technical teams, manage projects, and mentor junior staff.

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex concepts to clients and stakeholders.


Technical Skills / Software Proficiency

· Hydrologic/Hydraulic Modeling: HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, PCSWMM, XP-SWMM, or similar.

· Stormwater Design Tools: HydroCAD, PondPack, StormCAD, CivilStorm.

· GIS & Data Analysis: ArcGIS (ArcHydro, watershed delineation), QGIS.

· Design & Drafting: AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation/Open Roads.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Deltek/Project Management software a plus.


Preferred Qualifications

· Familiarity with green infrastructure and low-impact development (LID) practices.

· Familiarity with climate resilience planning and flood risk analysis.

· Established professional network within the municipal water resources community.
