We are seeking a Director of Electrical Engineering for our MEP consulting firm client in Las Vegas, NV. This position is responsible for the overall supervision of projects within the electrical department with the client and that the project will be completed on time and within budget. The Director of Electrical Engineering must maintain satisfactory relationships with clients and will be expected to oversee all projects within the department, as well as act as Project Manager and/or Designer as needed.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist Project Managers to ensure all of their duties are fulfilled. Facilitate PM's on decisions concerning design as needed.
  • Assist PM's with client issues and conflicts as required.
  • Work with PM's to ensure quality drawings are provided on time.
  • Review and assist PMs with keeping projects in line with budget.
  • Be the Engineer on Record as required for the department.
  • Establish and maintain QA/QC processes and strategies as appropriate for the department and in coordination with other departments. Hold the department accountable for following standards on all projects.
  • Regularly perform QC of drawings. Lead out in quality control of projects to ensure quality control at the bid document level.
  • Research new technology to improve designs. Assist with designing specialty portions of projects as required.
  • Review and understand technical scope for all projects.
  • Maintain relationships with clients both during and after project completion.
  • Be aware of all staffing under/overages. Direct the use of resources in the department to complete work as required. Provide department team assignments for projects.
  • Work with HR to approve PTO, resolve any conduct-related issues, conduct new employee interviews, and assist with onboarding as needed.
  • Develop and implement discipline specific design standards including code requirements, client requirements, and good design practice. Hold employees accountable to the standards.
  • Work with PMs to set up training procedures for department employees. Perform or provide needed training on a department and individual level in conjunction with PMs.


Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineer or related discipline
  • PE license in Nevada
  • 10-15+ years of experience in the AEC/MEP industry.
  • Prior experience with management, leadership, budgeting, and financial insight.
