Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for an SES Fire Operations Training Specialist opportunity in Richland, WA for the DOE Hanford Field Office.

 

Position Overview:

The SES Fire Operations Training Specialist will provided general support for The Department of Energy (DOE) Security and Emergency Service (SES) Division in the following areas:

  • Develop and provide training supporting transition of fire service activities.
  • Assist in developing exercises, performance tests, and surveillance to validate capabilities to support transition activities for fire services with other fire department agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with training programs for fire department personnel, including the use of firefighting equipment, firefighting techniques, rescue work, first aid, EOC activation and paramedical activities.
  • Provide input and advice in developing, negotiating, and managing fire service transition plans, agreements, and contracts.
  • Help establish strategies and procedures for ensuring fire department plans for emergency services activities, accounting for potential toxic and hazardous materials, to include support provided by outside fire agencies.
  • Perform validation of fire service transition activities applying National Fire Protection Association standards, policies, and traditional fire department work practices to evaluate the contractor and outside fire department emergency response services.
  • Review and assist with performance testing, drills, and provide exercise support to fire agencies.
  • Assist with oversight of the Hanford Fire Department supporting the transition of fire and emergency response services.
  • Is familiar with lessons learned generated by federal oversight and internal contractor processes and provides oversight to ensure they are incorporated into plans and operating procedures.
  • Assist with oversight for contractor emergency preparedness and management programs.
  • Assist with review of firefighting apparatus acquisition specifications and requirements for effective and efficient accomplishment of department firefighting needs, as required.

 

Education and Experience:

  • 10 years of Hanford Site fire/emergency response experience.
  • Subject Mater Expert level incident command experience in technical rescue, including high angle, confined space, hazardous materials response including radiological events, wildland fire interface, and activation and use of the Hanford Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
  • Detailed knowledge of Hanford facilities, land, and hazards.
  • Experience providing training to firefighters.
  • Documented work experience on their resume that clearly supports all minimum qualifications and demonstrates the capability to successfully perform the tasks outlined in the SOW.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & CAPABILITIES

  • Incident command level experience of structural, wildland, and hazardous material firefighting techniques
  • Incident command level experience of managing events requiring the activation of the Hanford EOC.
  • Expertise in National Incident Management System, including Incident Command System practice and use in firefighting.
  • Expertise related to Firefighting Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Expertise related to Emergency Medical Technician and/or Paramedic qualifications and performance standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Work Location: Work shall be conducted at the Hanford Field Office and the Hanford Site in Richland, WA.

 

Compensation:

Salary is commensurate with education and experience and may range between $65.00 to $90.00 per hour.
