Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Quality Control Technician – 2nd Shift opportunity in Jonesborough, TN.
Position Summary:
The Quality Technician performs inspection of in-process and finished products, performs a variety of testing techniques, completes and reviews inspection documents, and accepts or rejects material based on customer specifications and guidelines while maintaining traceability and acceptable quality standards. They will work within the Quality Assurance Department and will report directly to the Sr. Manager of Quality Assurance. This position requires the ability to work 2nd shift, the ability to work overtime, weekends and shifts of 10 to 12 hours per day.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain accurate records, including records of inspection
- Prepare simple to complex reports
- Read and interpret complex drawings
- Effectively present information to customers, client departments, and other employees within the organization
- Read, interpret, and understand written or verbal requirements, procedures, and specifications to perform assigned tasks
- Prepare inspection reports
- Record and maintain accurate records and files
- Prioritize work to meet critical deadlines
- Follow Safety Practices
- Work effectively in a team environment and interface effectively with all levels of employees within the organization
- Perform mathematical calculations accurately and efficiently
- Perform a visual inspection of the product
- Set up inspection processes
- Inspection of in-process or finished product
- Initiation, preparation, and follow-through of inspection reports to include screening, rework and re-inspection
- Compile and prepare reports; Perform statistical analysis
- Performance of all types of inspection processes, including the use of micrometers, indicators, CMM, comparators, vision equipment, etc.
- Accept or reject material based on approved inspection equipment and methods
- Assume lead/supervisory role, as required
- Review and make suggestions for changes to inspector plans, inspector procedures for processes defined by Engineering
- Work with customer representatives for lot acceptance
- Assist Manufacturing with troubleshooting quality-deficient products
- Provide support and give recommendations during audits
- Maintain quality documents/reports per procedures
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and work area
- Perform work in other areas of the facility as required
Qualifications:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience without a degree or an Associate's degree with 2 years of related experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of all standard measuring and gaging equipment, quality standards and techniques; applicable laws, codes, ordinances, and regulations, non-destructive and destructive testing techniques and principles; gaging methods and sampling plans
- Ability to read and interpret simple to complex blueprints and engineering Drawings
- Ability to perform visual setup and dimensional inspection of complex parts and assemblies
- Intermediate math skills. Numbers, their operation and inter-relationships, including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, trigonometry, and their applications
- Calibration and Metrology principles
- Techniques, tools, and instruments involved in the use of precision technical plans, inspection plans, blueprints, drawings, and/or models
- Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Familiarity with Statistical Process Control methods
- Requires the ability to interface with all levels of personnel and work in a team environment
- Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment, including but not limited to safety shoes, eyeglasses, coveralls, earplugs, and various monitoring equipment
- Requires the ability to pass a visual acuity exam upon hire and annually thereafter (Near Vision must meet the Jaeger #1 test at less than 12 inches with one eye, natural or corrected) (NAS410)
- Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Must be able to work any shift. This position is designated as a 2nd shift position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) operation and programming experience is desired
- A certification in two or more non-destructive testing (NDT) methods is desired
- Selected candidate may be required to complete training and certifications in two or more non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
