About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Ontology Specialist to join a growing Data Governance and Analytics function within a leading life sciences organisation.

This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining ontologies and taxonomies to support data integration, advanced analytics, and AI-enabled research. You will work closely with scientific, technical, and business teams to improve enterprise data quality, interoperability, and knowledge management.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience in ontology engineering, semantic technologies, or knowledge management
• Hands-on experience with RDF, OWL, SKOS, SHACL, and semantic web standards
• Experience working with knowledge graph platforms (e.g., Neo4j or similar)
• Proficiency with ontology development tools (e.g., Protégé, GitHub-based workflows)
• Understanding of data governance, metadata management, and data quality processes
• Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, biomedical, or life sciences environments
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Desirable Skills

• Experience with data catalogue and modelling tools (e.g., Collibra, ER Studio)
• Knowledge of taxonomy management platforms
• Exposure to AI/ML, advanced analytics, or digital R&D programmes
• Experience working in large, complex enterprise environments
