ORGANIZATION TYPE: Social Advocacy Nonprofit

LOCATION: Washington, DC (Hybrid) 

POSITION TITLE: Administrative Assistant 

SCHEDULE: 40 hours/week 

DURATION: Temporary (through December 2026)  

HOURLY RATE: $20.00 - $23.00 

 

Is This Your Dream Job? The Administrative Assistant will support day-to-day operations and program administration. This position will play a key role in keeping a small team organized and effective, handling a mix of office administration, scheduling, and program support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-directed, and comfortable juggling a variety of tasks in a mission-driven environment. This position must reside in Washington, D.C., Virginia, or Maryland, but will be mostly remote.

 

Our Ideal Candidate: 

·       1 year of administrative or office support experience, preferably with nonprofit organizations

·       Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

·       Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and/or Google Workspace

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·       Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

·       Ability to work independently and prioritize competing demands


How You Will Spend Your Day: 

  • Provide general administrative support, including scheduling, correspondence, filing, and document preparation
  • Maintain organizational records, databases, and shared files with accuracy and confidentiality
  • Support meeting logistics: scheduling, materials preparation, note-taking, and follow-up
  • Assist with program and event coordination, including vendor communications and attendee logistics
  • Process routine paperwork, including invoices, reimbursements, check requests, and expense documentation in coordination with finance staff
  • Assist with contracts and other file management
  • Respond to general inquiries via phone and email, routing as appropriate
  • Support grant-related reporting and documentation as needed
  • Other duties as assigned to support organizational operations
