About the Role
For our leading financial services client in Amsterdam, weβre looking for a Looker BI Engineer to join the DARE (Data, Analysis and Reporting Environment) team. This initiative is building a global, cloud-native analytics platform on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) that supports real-time and batch risk calculations, derivatives pricing, XVA, PFE, VaR, and more.
You will be the go-to expert in Looker β building LookML models, dashboards, and data visualizations to empower critical financial decisions in risk management and front office trading environments.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Looker dashboards, Explores, and LookML models.
- Translate business requirements into scalable, performant BI solutions.
- Optimize LookML and BigQuery for cost-efficiency and speed.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams for seamless Looker integration.
- Implement governance, access control, and data lineage within Looker.
- Enable adoption of Looker via documentation, training, and internal support.
- Contribute to BI architecture and best practices for the DARE platform.
- Maintain high standards of data quality, security, and performance.
Required Skills & Experience
Must-Have:

5+ years in BI development, including 2+ years with Looker/LookML.

Excellent SQL and experience with relational/cloud databases (BigQuery preferred).

Solid grasp of the GCP ecosystem (CloudRun, GCS, Pub/Sub, etc.).

Strong understanding of data modelling, ELT/ETL pipelines, and visualization.

Experience with CI/CD, Git, and documentation workflows.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Nice-to-Have:

Experience with dbt, Terraform, and data testing tools.
- Financial services knowledge: risk metrics, derivatives pricing.
- Data governance, metadata management experience.
Education & Language
- Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar.
