We are looking for a skilled and motivated Forklift Mechanic with expertise in Taylor brand equipment to join our team. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining large-capacity forklifts and container handlers used in industrial and port operations. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in heavy equipment, strong diagnostic skills, and a commitment to safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, and electrical systems on Taylor forklifts and material handling equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance and DOT-compliant inspections
- Use OEM manuals, schematics, and diagnostic software to troubleshoot and document repairs
- Respond to field service calls or in-shop repairs as needed
- Maintain accurate service records and repair logs
- Communicate effectively with service coordinators and customers regarding repair timelines and recommendations
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment
- Stay current on Taylor equipment updates, training, and service bulletins
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience as a forklift, diesel, or heavy equipment mechanic (Taylor experience highly preferred)
- Proficient with diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical troubleshooting, and transmission repairs
- Familiarity with OEM diagnostic software and technical schematics
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals and electrical diagrams
- Own a complete set of tools appropriate for the role
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred for field work)
- High school diploma or GED; vocational or technical training is a plus
