About the Job

The CDL–A Driver will be responsible for safely picking up and delivering freight, ensuring timely service while complying with all DOT, FMC, and company regulations. This role requires skill in operating a range of equipment, freight handling, and communication with customers and dispatch to meet operational needs.

In This Role, You Will:

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles, straight trucks, covered box, and flatbed trucks.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report safety concerns.
• Communicate with customers to confirm delivery/pickup needs.
• Load, unload, and secure freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and proper securement materials.
• Arrange freight to maximize trailer capacity and balance weight distribution.
• Verify documentation accuracy against freight description.
• Comply with all hazardous material regulations.
• Follow dispatch instructions, route sequencing, and maintain communication via two-way radio.
• Collect and return cash/checks for COD shipments.
• Provide outstanding internal and external customer service.
• Report issues, delays, or concerns immediately to dispatch.
• Promote additional business opportunities by providing sales leads.
• Work independently and collaboratively to complete assignments.
• Perform all other duties and projects as assigned.

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Class A CDL with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience.
• HazMat endorsement required.
• Doubles endorsement required.
• TWIC card required.
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) meeting hiring standards.
• Ability to pass DOT Physical and road test.
• Strong math skills (fractions, decimals, basic operations).
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
• Effective oral and written communication skills across all organizational levels.

Preferred:

• Forklift certification.
• Experience with port and intermodal operations.
