Banking & Financial Restructuring Associate

  • Remuneration: A range of $140,000 to $180,000 per annum

Position Overview

A highly skilled legal associate is sought for integration into a robust transactional and financial services practice group. The daily responsibilities are anticipated to be dynamic, affording exposure to a compelling amalgam of legal matters. The incumbent attorney will be integral to the negotiation and documentation of sophisticated credit facilities, inclusive of asset-based lending agreements and complex commercial real estate financing arrangements. A substantial component of the role will consist of rendering advice to clientele regarding financial distress scenarios, encompassing corporate restructuring, workouts, and insolvency proceedings, primarily from a creditor's vantage point. Furthermore, the associate is expected to furnish critical support on ancillary corporate matters, such as mergers and acquisitions and commercial property transactions. This position necessitates the execution of meticulous due diligence, comprehensive loan portfolio analysis, and the preparation of consequential transactional documents and bankruptcy-related pleadings. The role provides for direct client interfacing and a defined trajectory for professional advancement.


Mandatory Credentials

  • Possession of a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree conferred by a law school accredited by the American Bar Association.
  • Current admission and good standing status with the Bar of the State of New Jersey.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of substantive, post-qualification experience within a sophisticated legal setting, with a concentration in banking, corporate finance, or financial restructuring.
  • Verifiable experience in the management of complex transactional legal matters.

Preferred Attributes

  • Admission to the New York Bar is considered highly beneficial.
  • Direct experience pertaining to asset-based lending (ABL) documentation, distressed debt instruments, and the advocacy of creditors' rights within Chapter 11 proceedings.
  • A profound comprehension of the principles articulated in the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC).
  • Exceptional capabilities in analysis, legal research, and document drafting.
  • The demonstrated capacity to autonomously manage multiple, complex legal matters while concurrently contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with an unwavering commitment to the delivery of exemplary client service.
