Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for Project Engineer 2 and 3 opportunities in Los Alamos, NM, to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory.

 

Per diem available for those who qualify.

Work Location: Hybrid – occasional travel onsite; local candidates can work in the facility

Group/Organization: PIE-EPF1 (Los Alamos/Otowi 03-261 Building number or Sante Fe/Pacheco building)

Travel: To vendor facilities on occasion (a week at a time, estimated every 3-4 months)

Work Schedule: M-F 4/10 or 9/80 schedule, Occasional OT based on mission need, no on-call required

 

Summary:

The Project Engineer will play a central role in supporting the 30-PIT mission through fabrication, procurement, and equipment renovation efforts within LANL’s Plutonium Facility (PF-4). This position is responsible for leading the fabrication and procurement of PIT-related systems, including building and delivering critical components while ensuring alignment with mission objectives and technical requirements.

 

The Project Engineer will support the renovation and fabrication of equipment, driving improvements to performance, reliability, and operational readiness in support of PIT production. This individual will work closely with procurement engineers, internal stakeholders, and a diverse team of subject matter experts and external vendors to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions.

 

Throughout all phases, the Project Engineer is accountable for ensuring that technical solutions meet mission requirements, facilitating collaboration across multidisciplinary teams, and maintaining alignment between engineering deliverables and program goals. The role requires strong engagement with vendors and project teams to execute fabrication and procurement strategies effectively while ensuring successful project delivery and documentation compliance.


Required Qualifications:

Level 2: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, chemical, biological) from an ABET-accredited college or university and a minimum of 3 years of practical work experience

Level 3: Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university and a minimum of 6 years of practical work experience

·       Software Knowledge: MS Teams and MS Office products

·       Nuclear project and glovebox experience

·       Mechanical and HVAC experience

·       Knowledge and experience in managing technical teams and interfacing with other engineering disciplines

·       Knowledge and understanding of technical scope development and senior-level understating of common engineering design document deliverables

·       Project Engineering Qualifications Test: All Project Engineers will be required to pass an Oral Qualifications Test within 12 months of their hiring date

·       Administrative Subcontract Technical Representative: All Project Engineers will be required to be qualified as an Administrative Subcontract Technical Representative (AdSTR) within 3 months of their hiring date

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DOE Q Security Clearance.
