Job Title: Buyer (Electrical Subcontractor – Live Construction Project)
Employment Type: Contract (Inside IR35)
Location: Remote (UK-based) / Occasional travel to site
Rate: £20 - £25 p/h

H9 Talent Solutions are supporting a leading electrical subcontractor delivering high-quality electrical installations across complex and high-value construction projects in the UK. As part of their continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Buyer to support procurement activities on a live construction site remotely.
Role Summary:
The Buyer will be responsible for the timely and cost-effective procurement of electrical materials, plant, and subcontractor services in support of a large, live construction project. Working remotely, the Buyer will collaborate closely with the site-based delivery team, procurement department, and supply chain partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and procure electrical materials, plant, and subcontracted services to support the live project.
- Issue enquiries, evaluate quotations, and raise purchase orders in line with project budgets and schedules.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure best price, delivery terms, and payment conditions.
- Maintain close liaison with site teams to ensure materials and services meet technical specifications and delivery deadlines.
- Monitor supplier performance and address any delivery or quality issues promptly.
- Keep accurate records of procurement activity, purchase orders, and cost tracking.
- Ensure compliance with project procurement strategy and internal processes.
- Coordinate with finance teams to assist with invoice queries and payment approvals.
- Maintain regular communication with the supply chain and support contract change management.
- Assist with value engineering and cost-saving initiatives where appropriate.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Buyer or Procurement Officer in the construction or M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) sector.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems and materials commonly used in commercial or industrial construction projects.
- Experience working on live construction projects.
- Ability to work remotely and independently, with excellent communication and time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and familiar with procurement or ERP systems.
- Strong negotiation and commercial acumen.
- Understanding of construction contract terms (NEC, JCT, etc.) beneficial.
- Knowledge and experience of working Inside IR35 contracts.
- UK-based and eligible to work in the UK.
Desirable Qualifications:
- CIPS qualification or working toward (preferred but not essential).
- Health & Safety awareness (e.g., CSCS or equivalent beneficial but not essential).
