Job Title: Multi-Skilled Operative – Recycling Operations

Location: Linwood, Renfrewshire

Contract: Full-Time – Average 38.5 hours per week (4 days on / 4 days off, Monday to Sunday shift pattern)

Salary: £28,548 per annum (inclusive of shift allowance) + annual bonus scheme

Role Overview

An opportunity has become available for a committed and safety-focused Multi-Skilled Operative to join a recycling and resource recovery facility in Linwood, Renfrewshire. This role supports day-to-day operations in waste sorting and plant maintenance, contributing to the efficient transformation of waste into reusable materials.

Working within a shift team, you will operate plant machinery, conduct equipment checks, and help ensure smooth and safe processing of materials across the site.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct general recycling duties, including sorting and separating materials into designated waste streams
• Safely operate a range of fixed and mobile plant equipment (e.g. front-end loaders, 360 grabs)
• Assist the maintenance team by supporting minor maintenance tasks as needed
• Perform daily inspections and equipment checks, reporting any faults or potential hazards
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment, complying with all Health & Safety procedures

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

• Previous experience in a recycling, production, or industrial environment
• Familiarity with safe working practices and a strong understanding of Health & Safety in operational settings
• Proven ability to follow structured work instructions with consistent attention to detail
• Experience operating mobile plant, particularly:
• Front-end loaders
• 360 grab machinery
• Possession of valid, UK-recognised mobile plant licences

Desirable:

• Basic knowledge of mechanical processes or previous involvement in equipment maintenance
• A positive, team-oriented approach with a commitment to sustainability and continuous improvement
