Job Title: Multi-Skilled Operative – Recycling Operations
Location: Newton Mearns, Glasgow
Contract: Full-Time – Average 38.5 hours per week (4 days on / 4 days off shift pattern, Monday to Sunday)
Salary: £28,548 per annum (inclusive of shift allowance) + annual bonus scheme
About the Role
A new opportunity has become available for a reliable and performance-driven Multi-Skilled Operative to join a high-performing recycling and resource recovery team based in Newton Mearns, Glasgow.
This role supports the efficient and safe processing of recyclable materials, playing a key part in helping to deliver sustainable waste management solutions. You'll work with both fixed and mobile plant equipment to sort, move, and maintain material flow across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general recycling and sorting duties
- Safely operate fixed and mobile plant to separate waste into various recyclable streams
- Complete daily checks and inspection routines on equipment and plant machinery
- Report any faults or defects promptly
- Support minor maintenance tasks under the guidance of the maintenance team
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others
Person Specification
Essential:
- Experience working in a production, recycling, or industrial environment
- Awareness of Health & Safety practices in operational environments
- Previous experience operating mobile plant, including:
- Front-end loader
- 360 grab
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow structured processes
- Valid, UK-recognised mobile plant licences
Desirable:
- Experience conducting basic equipment maintenance or assisting with mechanical tasks
- A proactive attitude toward continuous improvement and environmental responsibility
