We are currently in search of an Accounting Manager for a Community-Based Nonprofit. The position is hybrid in Washington, DC or Vienna, VA. This is a full-time, temporary-to-permanent position.

 

ORGANIZATION TYPE: Community-Based Nonprofit

LOCATION: Washington, DC or Vienna,  VA (3-days/week on-site, 2 remote)

POSITION TITLE: Accounting Manager

SCHEDULE: 37.5 hours/week

DURATION: Temporary to Permanent

HOURLY RATE: $30.00 - $32.00

 

Is This Your Dream Job? The Accounting Manager will report to the VP of Finance and Accounting and be responsible for preparing accounting documents, schedules, exhibits and summaries. This person will examine assigned accounting documents for accuracy and application of policies, procedures and acceptable accounting standards. This is a temporary to permanent opportunity with an anticipated salary of $65-$70k.  

 

Our Ideal Candidate:

·       Bachelor’s degree required

·       CPA or CPA eligible highly preferred

·       3+ years of accounting experience, including direct management of general ledger

·       Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, GAAP and financial reporting

·       Experience with audits, budgeting and financial analysis

·       Advanced proficiency with accounting software (Great Plains, FRX, Andar preferred)

·       Advanced Excel skills

·       Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial staff

·       High level of integrity and attention to detail

 

How You Will Spend Your Day:

·       Manage the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions

·       Oversee monthly close process, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting

·       Maintain and improve chart of accounts and financial systems

·       Ensure compliance with GAAP, donor restrictions, and regulatory requirements

·       Monitor and reconcile restricted and unrestricted funds

·       Support annual audit process, including the preparation of financial statements and supporting documentation

·       Conduct financial analysis, reporting, and forecasting to support organizational decision-making

·       Manage fixed assets, depreciation, and capital expenditures

·       Strengthen internal controls and ensure system integrity and security

·       Collaborate with internal teams on budgeting, reporting, and financial planning

·       Assist with special projects and additional finance-related responsibilities as needed
