Our client, an AmLaw 100 firm, is seeking a Senior Competitive Intelligence Analyst at their offices in midtown New York City. This is a full time, direct hire role paying an annual base salary of $140K to $160K plus a performance-based bonus and excellent benefits plan.

 

The Senior Competitive Intelligence Analyst will support business development initiatives by delivering actionable market and competitive intelligence. This role combines deep research expertise with strong business acumen to identify opportunities and competitive advantages across all practice areas. The successful candidate will transform complex information and data into clear, compelling intelligence reports that supports firm strategy and business development decision-making.

Both a self-starter and a collaborative team member, the Senior CI Analyst will leverage experience in law firm or professional services research and/or business development with excellent communications skills to provide top-tier insights and analysis.

 

  • Research, analyze and write reports on a wide variety of company, business, industry, markets and/or competitor data to support the firm’s business development and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide research assistance to Business Development and attorneys to support practice or client-related projects as assigned.
  • Stay current on critical news developments affecting the legal and other industries, key clients, in addition to staying abreast of other topics, which may be assigned.
  • Keep metrics on work completed for monthly and annual reports.
  • Assist in efforts to market the CI Group’s service to firm personnel.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

  

Experience / Education - Requires advanced degree (MBA or JD preferred, MLIS acceptable with appropriate experience) or some equivalent of education and experience with focus on market analysis and business or financial services research. Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant work experience.

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Highly tuned research and analysis skills, with the ability to analyze information from a variety of sources and draw conclusions to provide actionable intelligence. Strong understanding of the legal industry and the business environment impacting our clients, is required.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, written and oral communication and customer service skills. Demonstrated ability to synthesize and distill information from diverse sources and deliver objective, meaningful insights in concise and compelling ways. 
  • Experience with financial/business, legal/litigation and industry-specific databases (i.e., Bloomberg, Capital IQ, Eikon, FactSet, Dealogic) and Microsoft products, particularly Word and Excel. Data analysis skills would be a significant asset.
  • A strong understanding of fundamental financial reporting principles and the ability to evaluate overall company performance, as well as the key roadblocks and tailwinds influencing company performance.
  • Thorough knowledge of M&A and private equity transactions and the ability to differentiate between multiple deal types and strategies.
  • Ability to work well with staff at all levels of the firm, as well as handle an array of projects independently, often under tight deadlines and in high-pressure situations.
  • Takes a proactive approach to assignments and demonstrates the ability to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently, with a flexibility and willingness to work extended hours as required.
  • Strong sense of urgency, intellectual curiosity and professional dedication, as well as a positive attitude, are expected.
