Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Licensing Engineer opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN.

 

Position Overview:

The Licensing Engineer supports nuclear regulatory licensing activities and ensures compliance with NRC regulations for nuclear facilities and advanced reactor technologies. This role develops licensing strategies, prepares regulatory submittals, and collaborates with engineering and operations teams to support licensing and operational readiness objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review NRC licensing documents including license amendment requests, safety analysis reports, technical reports, and regulatory submittals.
  • Interpret and apply regulations including 10 CFR Parts 50, 52, and 70.
  • Develop responses to NRC Requests for Additional Information (RAIs) and support regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, and quality teams to support licensing activities and compliance initiatives.
  • Develop licensing strategies for emergent regulatory issues, deviations, and exemptions.
  • Maintain compliance with quality assurance standards including 10 CFR Part 50 Appendix B and ASME NQA-1.
  • Support process improvements, procedure development, and corrective action initiatives.
  • Interface with NRC staff and industry stakeholders on regulatory matters.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or related technical field preferred.
  • 5+ years of nuclear licensing or regulatory experience.
  • Experience with NRC licensing processes and regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with nuclear quality assurance programs and safety culture principles.
  • Experience with advanced reactors or fuel cycle facilities.
  • Knowledge of uranium enrichment or small modular reactor licensing.
  • Experience leading cross-functional technical projects and regulatory engagements.
