Director of Surgical Services:

Medical Unit: Perioperative Services/Surgical/Operating Room, SDS, PACU, Endoscopy, PAT, Sterile Processing)

Location: Red Bank, NJ 07701

Salary: $150,000 - $165,000 base salary

Schedule: Full-time, Onsite | General hours 8am–5pm (schedule may vary with operational needs); No visa sponsorship available

Facility:  Facility has 11 Operating Rooms, Cysto Suite, 5 Robots, including the Da Vinci Robot and 3 Neuro Spine, including Micro Spine.



The Client:

A leading healthcare provider in New Jersey is seeking a seasoned perioperative leader to advance and oversee the clinical, operational, and strategic functions of surgical services. This position has become available due to internal restructuring to support enhanced service line integration and quality oversight.


Description:

This is a vital leadership role guiding all aspects of surgical and procedural services, including operating rooms, pre/post-op units, endoscopy, and sterile processing. The Director of Surgical Services will be responsible for driving performance through cross-functional collaboration, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and evidence-based clinical practice.

Daily responsibilities include managing perioperative operations, engaging with surgical staff, nursing leaders, and administration, ensuring a high standard of patient care, and steering department-wide initiatives for service excellence. Strategic planning, quality assurance, budgetary oversight, and innovation-driven leadership are central to this role. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in complex environments and brings depth of experience in leading surgical services.


Qualifications:

  • Active RN license (Required)
  • CNOR certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Master’s degree in nursing, healthcare administration, or related field
  • Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in NJ or ability to obtain transfer in 30 days.
  • 5+ years of progressive management experience in perioperative services
  • 2+ years of administrative healthcare leadership with growing responsibility
  • Must live or relocate within a 30-minute radius of the facility for on-call availability


Skills:

  • Background in perioperative nursing (scrub/circulate experience preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of compliance standards including DOH, JCAHO, AORN, ASPAN
  • Deep expertise in clinical operations across OR, PACU, SDS, Endoscopy, PAT, and Sterile Processing
  • Advanced skills in budgeting, staffing, and resource optimization
