Salary: $20.10 to $28.14 per hour

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly-skilled and compassionate Paramedic to join a dynamic team dedicated to providing life-saving care in both emergency and non-emergency settings. In this role, you will be a vital first responder, providing comprehensive pre-hospital care and transport for patients. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve assessing the nature and extent of patient illness or injury, and administering advanced life support (ALS) protocols, including cardiac and trauma interventions.


You will be expected to perform a variety of medical procedures, such as IV initiation, medication administration, and advanced airway management. The role requires strong critical thinking skills to synthesize complex information under pressure and to make real-time adjustments to treatment plans. You will also be responsible for maintaining detailed patient records, documenting observations and treatments to ensure seamless transitions of care. The position demands exceptional communication skills to effectively interact with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals. Beyond direct patient care, you will assist in maintaining readiness of the transport unit, including checking equipment, stocking supplies, and ensuring all apparatus are in optimal working condition.


Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An Associate's degree in Paramedic Studies is preferred.
  • Must possess a current Paramedic certification in the state of Virginia.
  • Current certifications in AHA BLS - HCP, EVOC, and ACLS are required.
  • PALS, Haz Mat Awareness, NRP, and PHTLS or BTLS certifications are required within one year of hire.
  • Must be a Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP), although not required for initial hire, it is preferred and a priority for the organization.
  • All qualified candidates must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and an excellent driving record.


Preferred Skills:

  • One or more years of experience working as a Paramedic in a pre-hospital or critical care setting.
  • Experience in pediatric care and advanced transport medical knowledge.
  • Proficiency in electronic patient care report (ePCR) software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and coordinate with external agencies.
