§ Duties:
The selected attorney will serve as a strategic advisor and litigator within the firm’s expansive Defense and National Security group. This role demands a sophisticated understanding of the regulatory hurdles and litigation risks inherent in doing business with the federal government.
⨖ Orchestrating high-stakes bid protests before the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims to protect or challenge significant contract awards.
⨖ Leading complex internal investigations regarding compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), identifying potential vulnerabilities and implementing corrective strategies.
⨖ Defending corporate clients against allegations of fraud and misconduct under the False Claims Act (FCA), including responding to civil investigative demands and managing parallel criminal or administrative proceedings.
⨖ Advising on the Contract Disputes Act (CDA) matters, including the preparation of certified claims, negotiation of equitable adjustments, and representation in litigation before various Boards of Contract Appeals.
⨖ Providing expert counsel on national security regulations, including matters involving cybersecurity requirements, supply chain integrity, and foreign investment reviews.
§ Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate an exemplary academic and professional history, specifically within the realm of government procurement law.
⨖ Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school with superior academic credentials.
⨖ Active membership in good standing with the District of Columbia Bar, or the immediate eligibility to waive in.
⨖ Six (6) to Eight (8) years of post-JD experience specifically focused on federal government contracts law within a major law firm or a relevant federal agency.
⨖ Substantial experience with the FAR, DFARS, and the procedural nuances of administrative litigation in the D.C. circuit.
⨖ Exceptional analytical and writing skills, with a proven ability to distill complex regulatory frameworks into actionable legal advice.
§ Required Skills:
⨖ Prior experience serving within a federal agency such as the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Justice (DOJ), or the GAO.
⨖ An advanced degree, such as an L.L.M. in Government Procurement Law or National Security Law.
⨖ Possession of an active federal security clearance, or the clear ability to obtain one if required by specific matters.
⨖ Proven leadership capabilities, including the mentorship of junior associates and the management of multi-disciplinary teams during intensive litigation cycles.
