Job Description:

The selected candidate will be responsible for navigating the full adjudication continuum for high-value commercial entities and real property developers. This role requires an astute command of both jurisprudence and procedural strategy, enabling clients to successfully navigate and prevail in sophisticated adversarial proceedings.

Day-to-day duties will encompass:

  • Litigation Lifecycle Management: Orchestrating all phases of fast-paced litigation, commercial dispute resolution within California State and US Federal courts.
  • Comprehensive discovery management, ESI, sophisticated motion practice, pre-trial strategy, trial preparation, and appellate briefing.
  • Settlement negotiations, complex mediations and highly sensitive arbitrations to achieve the most favorable result for each client.
  • Representing clients in matters concerning complex real estate financing challenges, land and zoning matters, construction contract disputes, commercial litigation, effective landlord-tenant litigation, defense of insurance claims, corporate structure disagreements and buyouts.
  • Authoring persuasive pleadings, substantive motions, and appellate briefs, translating complex legal theories into clear, compelling arguments.
  • Providing expert proactive risk mitigation counsel to clients, offering strategic insights to preempt future legal exposure.
  • Leading client representation in depositions, arbitrations, and mediations, and collaborating internally to effectuate complex transactional integration in structuring final settlement agreements.


Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from reputable and ABA-accredited law school, graduating top of class or with extracurricular accolades or exceptional grades.
  • Active Member in good standing of the State Bar of California with intermediate knowledge of relevant California Statutes and Federal Regulations and how they apply to daily litigation.
  • A minimum of two (2) to seven (7) years of private practice experience honed in on litigation, preferably in real property and complex corporate matters or business disputes.
  • Demonstrably performs forensic legal analysis and research, leading to outstanding legal drafting with accurate and timely filing.
  • Articulate with exceptional debating mastery, or client development capability with a steadfast commitment to superb quality of service.
  • Ability to effectively manage a complex caseload from inception to completion of at least 5 up to 20 cases monthly for a broad range of matters within real estate, land use & zoning litigation.
  • Efficiently meets strict deadlines and complex risk & liability control in support of the firm's bespoke client-base throughout the Greater San Diego and Southern California region.


Preferred Skills:

  • Possession of an advanced credential such as an L.L.M. in Real Property or Construction Law.
  • Track record in delivering compelling appellate briefs or arguing before a federal or supreme court.
  • Trial experience as 1st chair or 2nd chair, or before administrative judges with keen understanding of state administrative code, process and procedures.
  • Legal risk advisement, corporate, commercial or professional liability management in support of land development, construction projects or financial services and wealth management.
  • Regulatory oversight, compliance, investigative services or city/state/federal prosecution of fraud claims, embezzlement, racketeering or other high crimes and misdemeanors.
