Mechanical Engineer – HVAC Design

Simes and Rosch Engineering is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC design across commercial, municipal, and government projects.

What you'll do:

  • Design HVAC systems from concept through construction documents for commercial, municipal, and government clients
  • Perform load calculations, equipment selection, and ductwork/piping layout
  • Coordinate with architects, structural, and electrical engineers throughout project delivery
  • Review and oversee construction administration, including RFI responses and submittal review
  • Ensure designs meet applicable codes (ASHRAE, IECC, local jurisdiction requirements) and project specifications
  • Support proposal development and scope estimation for new projects as needed

What you bring:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience designing HVAC systems, with direct experience in commercial, municipal, and/or government sectors
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC design software (e.g., Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP, or similar load calculation tools)
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP
  • Solid understanding of mechanical codes and energy standards
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal oversight
  • Strong communication skills for client-facing and cross-discipline coordination
