Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Nurse Manager to lead our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) during the critical evening shift hours. This leadership role involves providing clinical guidance and operational oversight to ensure high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care for our most vulnerable population. You will work closely with the Director of Women’s Services to execute departmental goals and maintain clinical excellence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operational Coordination: Assisting the Director in all department activities to ensure a coordinated effort in fulfilling unit responsibilities in line with the facility's long-range plan and values.
  • Clinical Oversight: Providing direct clinical support to the nursing staff and evaluating the effectiveness of care based on the nursing process.
  • Quality Assurance: Coordinating the department’s participation in Performance Improvement (PI) activities to assure continuous Quality Improvement and maintain high standards of care.
  • Shift Leadership: Taking ownership of the NICU’s clinical and operational flow during the 3 PM to 11 PM shift, managing staffing, and ensuring adherence to policies and regulatory standards.

Required Skills

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) REQUIRED.
  • Experience: Minimum 2+ years of recent (within the last year) Acute Care NICU leadership experience (Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse level) REQUIRED.
  • Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License.
  • Note: Employees with a Compact License are required to obtain a Texas RN License within 60 days of the hire date.
  • Certifications: Current American Heart Association BLS Certification is required.

Preferred Skills

  • Proven experience managing a unit that requires evening, weekend, and on-call rotation duties.
  • Strong background in leading and coordinating Performance Improvement (PI) activities within a high-acuity unit.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clinical mentorship and education to nursing staff.
  • Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating care for patients across Women’s Services Units.
