Many people picture Alaska as being far north and isolated, but Ketchikan is located in Southeast Alaska and is actually farther south than many realize. It's a vibrant waterfront community known as Alaska's fishing capital and serves as a major cruise and tourism destination.
We're seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic / Bus Mechanic to serve as the lead mechanic responsible for maintaining and supporting the company's fleet operations.

Schedule: Monday – Friday Day shift
Peak Season (May – October)
- Fleet actively supports local tourism operations
- Focus on keeping buses operational and minimizing downtime
- Occasional after-hours or roadside assistance support may be required
Off-Season (November – April)
- Major repairs, overhauls, preventative maintenance, and fleet preparation for the upcoming season
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on diesel-powered buses
- Troubleshoot engine, electrical, brake, suspension, steering, and drivetrain systems
- Conduct scheduled inspections and maintenance on fleet vehicles
- Complete DOT inspections and maintain fleet compliance records
- Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and maintenance documentation
- Manage parts inventory, purchasing, and vendor relationships
- Research repair solutions utilizing industry software and technical resources
- Repair and overhaul engines, transmissions, motors, and major components as needed
- Help maintain shop equipment, organization, and maintenance systems
- Maintain Federal, State, and local safety standards
- Support fleet readiness and overall shop operations
Qualifications
- Experience maintaining diesel trucks, buses, transit vehicles, school buses, or fleet equipment
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations, inspections, and fleet compliance requirements
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members, vendors, and service providers
- CDL Class A or B is preferred but not required
- Experience with small engines and marine/outboard equipment is a plus
