Position Title: Senior Designer (Onsite Only)
Position Description:
- Support program and organizational initiatives as a Senior Designer, creating innovative and practical mechanical and electro-mechanical concepts and designs for components, assemblies, tools, and products of varying complexity.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, vendors, manufacturing, quality, and customers on design specifications and requirements.
- Ensure all designs are free of layout process defects and meet applicable standards.
- Assist engineers in defining design standards and configurations as needed.
- Utilize advanced Computer Aided Design (CAD) methodologies, theories, and techniques.
- Review completed engineering documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with engineering, military, and industry standards and specifications.
- Provide expert technical consultation, leveraging comprehensive and in-depth design knowledge.
- Develop highly innovative concepts to meet functional and operational requirements for both existing product lines and new product development programs.
- Ensure CAD models are suitable for transition to modeling and simulation software applications.
- Prepare complex design layouts, schematics, and sketches, as well as associated test plans, procedures, and specifications to meet system and integration requirements within cost and producibility constraints.
- Prepare complete drawing packages to military or equivalent ASME standards.
- Check final layouts, drawings, reports, procedures, and change history documentation for clarity, completeness, and conformance to required standards, ensuring accuracy of calculations and dimensions.
- Work closely with systems engineers to ensure designs meet all contractual requirements.
- Evaluate completed designs for producibility, viability, appropriateness of tolerances, fits, finishes, and materials, and validate equipment integration.
- All positions are onsite only; remote work is not available.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in tolerance analysis and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Skilled in use of CAD equipment and drafting techniques, including 3D modeling and file manipulation (specifically Creo).
- Comprehensive knowledge of military drawings and specifications, and applicable MILSPEC/STD's.
- In-depth product knowledge at component, subsystem, and system levels.
- Understanding of production methods and human factors in design.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience specifically designing with Creo is required.
- Model Based Definition (MBD) experience is a strong plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in the design of combat vehicles or within the defense industry is highly preferred.
Experience Required:
- Minimum 9 years of design/drafting experience, including use of Pro-E/Creo CAD systems.
Education Required:
- Associate degree with an emphasis in engineering drafting/design, or equivalent combination of training and relevant experience. Must include a minimum of nine years of drafting and design experience, including at least five years with advanced design concepts and applications.
Additional Information:
- Current experience with Creo 9 is required.
