HiFyve is hiring a PLC & Instrumentation Technician in the food and beverage industry in Zumbrota, Minnesota!

Salary: $35–$45/hr

Shift: Day shift

Location: Zumbrota, Minnesota


Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and adjust PLCs, HMIs, and field devices.
  • Maintain and repair power and motor control systems, including frequency drives.
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment issues causing downtime or inefficiencies.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Monitor and test PLC devices and their connections to ensure proper functionality.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and maintain compliance with regulations.
  • Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track asset performance and maintain inventory levels.
  • Assist with the installation and setup of new equipment and utilities (compressed air, water systems, refrigeration, etc.).
  • Provide technical support and training for other technicians and operators.
  • Maintain clear communication with other departments and management regarding equipment status.
  • Stay updated on new technologies and continuously seek process improvements.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety, and sanitation guidelines.

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Trade school or technical training in industrial automation, electricity, PLCs, or related fields preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 4 to 6 years of industrial maintenance, electrical, or PLC experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Expertise in PLC control systems, power distribution, sensors, transmitters, and electromechanical systems.
  • Basic knowledge of boilers, air compressors, ammonia refrigeration, and wastewater systems.
  • Ability to read blueprints, ladder logic, and equipment specifications.
  • Skilled in electrical troubleshooting, motor wiring, and system repairs.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently on complex projects from planning to installation.
  • Proficiency in CMMS and other maintenance tracking systems.
