Job Title: Project Engineer – Mechanical
Location: Oshkosh, WI (Hybrid Schedule – On-site Tuesday–Thursday)
Pay Rate: $55–65/hr
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer – Mechanical to lead and manage an engineering team focused on continuous improvement, technical innovation, and cross-disciplinary project execution. This role involves high-impact decision-making, advanced engineering design, and fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration. The Project Engineer will drive complex vehicle system development, validation, and troubleshooting while mentoring engineers and guiding innovative solutions aligned with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of engineers, designers, and technicians, providing coaching, feedback, and professional development.
- Plan, direct, and coordinate engineering activities while managing department budgets and forecasting costs.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams, customers, suppliers, and leadership.
- Present and defend technical decisions to leadership and external stakeholders.
- Oversee or contribute to moderate- to high-complexity projects, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
- Perform advanced engineering tasks, including analysis, design/redesign, validation, and troubleshooting of vehicle components and subsystems.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, improvement, and accountability.
- Research and develop engineering methodologies, processes, and best practices.
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations while maintaining thorough project documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering preferred) or related field.
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule in Oshkosh, WI (on-site Tuesday–Thursday minimum).
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in DFMEA (creating, managing, and leading reviews).
- Experience with DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report) and hands-on test/development work.
- Proven track record in prototype product development and new product launches (defense or automotive industries).
- Proficiency with CREO and Windchill (drawings, change notices, workflows).
- Strong background in verification/testing and leading design reviews.
