Job Title: Senior Designer

Location: Onsite. Sterling Heights, MI

Pay: $59.56/hour

Hours: 9/80 schedule; 7a-430p

Long term contract

 

Position Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Designer to take a leading role in supporting strategic program initiatives. In this position, you will develop innovative mechanical and electro-mechanical designs for components, assemblies, tools, and products of varying complexity. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality teams, vendors, and customers to define specifications and deliver robust, manufacturable solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities

-     Develop complex mechanical and electro-mechanical design solutions for a diverse array of products and components.

-     Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project requirements, address manufacturability, and solve technical challenges.

-     Apply advanced Computer-Aided Design (CAD) methods using Creo 9 or newer (experience with this version is required).

-     Facilitate design reviews and ensure documentation complies with military, industry, and internal standards.

-     Provide technical expertise and consultation to internal teams and clients.

-     Prepare detailed design layouts, schematics, documentation, and test plans/procedures.

-     Create drawing packages in accordance with military (or equivalent ASME) standards; review for accuracy and compliance.

-     Ensure CAD models are optimized for integration with modeling and simulation tools.

-     Review and verify completed drawings and engineering documents for adherence to technical, regulatory, and quality requirements.

-     Coordinate with systems engineers to ensure all designs meet contractual and functional specifications.

-     Evaluate design documentation for manufacturability, aesthetics, material selection, tolerances, and integration capability.

Required Skills and Qualifications

-     Advanced proficiency in mechanical and electro-mechanical design, including tolerance analysis and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

-     Expertise in CAD software and drafting techniques (Creo 9 or newer), including 3D modeling and file management

-     In-depth understanding of military drawings/specifications and relevant MILSPEC/STD’s

-     Demonstrated knowledge at product, subsystem, and system levels

-     Familiarity with production processes and human factors/ergonomics in design

-     Ability to prepare technical documentation that meets rigorous standards

Experience and Education

-     Minimum of 9 years’ experience in design/drafting, with primary expertise in Pro-E/Creo (Creo 9 or newer)

-     Associate degree in engineering drafting/design, or a comparable combination of training and hands-on experience

-     At least 9 additional years of design/drafting experience, including a minimum of 5 years focused on advanced design applications
