Wire Harness Technician (Automotive / Electrical Systems)


Location: Hayward, CA


Pay: $28–$35/hour (based on experience) + 5 days paid leave


Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Occasional overtime, weekends, or holidays as needed


Contract: 6 months with strong potential for extension


About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Wire Harness Technician to join our Repair and Quality team, supporting automotive Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

In this hands-on role, you’ll ensure harness quality, reliability, and manufacturability for automotive and electric vehicle (EV) platforms. You’ll work directly with EDS design engineers, technicians, and manufacturing teams to identify and resolve electrical harness issues, perform rework, and maintain compliance with engineering and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot wire harness and electrical system issues on the production floor
  • Perform safe, high-quality harness rework both on-vehicle and on-bench
  • Accurately document repairs, rework, and corrective actions
  • Collaborate with EDS and manufacturing engineers to improve harness build quality and assembly processes
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues
  • Train and mentor production team members on best practices in wire harness repair
  • Maintain compliance with all safety, ESD, and quality procedures
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in automotive electrical systems, wire harness assembly, or repair
  • Skilled in harness rework, splicing, and connector replacement per IPC/WHMA-A-620 and USCAR-21 standards
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and rework instructions
  • Proficient with crimping tools, wire handling, harness inspection, and diagnostic equipment
  • Experience using Capital, CATIA, or similar harness design/release tools
  • Familiar with Jira or similar systems for issue tracking and RCA documentation
  • Knowledge of ESD protocols and EV electrical safety procedures
  • Experience with RCCA documentation or quality management systems (QMS)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; team-oriented and dependable
  • Proficiency in computer-based documentation and reporting tools
  • OEM or Tier 1 automotive manufacturing experience preferred


Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable working at heights up to 20–25 feet
  • Regular standing, bending, and movement during 8+ hour shifts
  • May be exposed to temperature variations, noise, and standard manufacturing conditions


Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Minimum 3 years of OEM repair experience and/or formal automotive technician training
