Position Overview
The Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-impact end-user training solutions that support technical system implementations, business process improvements, and manufacturing initiatives.
This role operates in a highly collaborative automotive environment and requires strong experience building structured learning solutions using established instructional design methodologies. The ISD will partner closely with Program Managers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to translate complex technical concepts into engaging, effective training materials across multiple delivery formats.
The ideal candidate brings both technical instructional design expertise and the ability to communicate clearly across cross-functional and global audiences.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Design & Course Development
- Design and develop learning solutions using ADDIE and SAM (Successive Approximation Model) methodologies.
- Create content across multiple delivery formats, including:
- Instructor-Led Training (ILT)
- Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT)
- Web-Based Training (WBT)
- Self-paced modules
- Video and multimedia learning
- Job aids and technical documentation
- Develop instructor guides, participant guides, manuals, and visual learning materials.
- Ensure all training materials align with system implementations, manufacturing processes, and business objectives.
Collaboration & Program Support
- Partner with Program Managers to develop comprehensive training plans.
- Work closely with SMEs to gather, validate, and structure technical content.
- Coach SMEs on effective knowledge transfer and content clarity.
- Support training setup, testing, and delivery in technical and manufacturing environments.
- Work independently while collaborating within a broader team of approximately 20 professionals.
Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
- Conduct training needs analyses aligned with business and operational goals.
- Develop assessments and evaluation tools to measure training effectiveness.
- Analyze learner feedback and performance data to refine and improve courseware.
- Support communication plans and promotional materials related to training initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Design Technology, or closely related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing training across multiple modalities (ILT, WBT, VILT, blended learning).
- Strong understanding and application of ADDIE and iterative design models (SAM).
- Proficiency in:
- Articulate
- Camtasia
- Adobe Photoshop
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience supporting global and executive-level audiences.
- Portfolio required demonstrating technical and soft skill training samples.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Technology, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in course development, curriculum design, or e-learning.
- Experience within automotive or manufacturing environments.
- Experience developing promotional materials and training communication plans using graphic design tools.
