Senior Designer – Onsite

Location: Onsite (remote work not available due to the nature of the position)

Position Overview

We are seeking a resourceful and innovative Senior Designer to support critical program initiatives. In this role, you will create practical and cutting-edge mechanical and electro-mechanical concepts and designs for components, assemblies, tools, and products of varying complexity. You will collaborate closely with engineering, vendors, manufacturing, quality assurance, and customers to define and deliver on high-quality design specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative mechanical and electro-mechanical concepts and detailed designs for products and assemblies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet specifications and are manufacturable.
  • Apply advanced Computer Aided Design (CAD) methodologies, theories, and techniques (Creo 9 or newer required).
  • Support the creation, review, and validation of engineering documents to ensure compliance with engineering and military standards.
  • Provide technical consultation using deep, practical knowledge of design for the team and client community.
  • Create highly innovative concepts that satisfy functional and operational requirements for existing product lines and new development programs.
  • Prepare complex design layouts, schematics, sketches, and documentation to meet system requirements within cost and producibility constraints.
  • Prepare and review drawing packages to military or ASME standards.
  • Check engineering layouts, drawings, test plans, and documentation for accuracy, compliance, and completeness.
  • Coordinate closely with systems engineers to ensure designs satisfy all contractual and technical requirements.
  • Evaluate drawings and procedures for producibility, tolerance, fit, material choices, and integration.
  • Ensure CAD models are optimized for transition to modeling and simulation software.
  • Note: This position is onsite only due to the sensitive nature of the work.

Required Skills

  • Proficient in tolerance analysis and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Proficient with applicable CAD equipment and techniques, including 3D modeling and file manipulation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of military drawings, specifications, and MILSPEC/STD’s.
  • Broad product line knowledge at component, subsystem, and system levels.
  • Strong understanding of production methods and human factors.
  • Experience with Model Based Definition (MBD) is a significant plus.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 9 years of design/drafting experience using Pro-E/Creo CAD systems (Creo 9 or newer required).

Education Requirements

  • Associate Degree with emphasis in engineering drafting/design or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of nine (9) additional years in drafting/design, including five (5) years focused on advanced design concepts and applications.

Preferences

  • Prior experience with combat vehicle design highly preferred.
