Position Summary
As a Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations to meet production goals and deadlines while promoting safety, quality, and efficiency. You will lead, train, and support your team, ensuring compliance with company policies and fostering continuous improvement across processes and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the use of employee resources and equipment to meet production plans and schedules within set timelines.
- Train, onboard, and guide employees on department procedures, emphasizing safety and quality standards.
- Conduct 45-day, 90-day, and annual performance reviews accurately and promptly; ensure employee acknowledgment of all reviews.
- Maintain records related to production, attendance, training, and compliance with safety regulations and policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate materials, assemblies, finished goods, and staffing needs.
- Address and escalate employee concerns to appropriate departments for resolution.
- Continuously assess workflow and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Provide real-time, constructive feedback on performance and attendance.
- Participate in weekly supervisory meetings and communicate key updates to team members.
- Report progress on production schedules to the Manufacturing Manager.
- Enforce work rules and administer disciplinary action when necessary, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols.
- Ensure current drawings, TDDs, and specifications are applied to all production work orders.
- Document and report discrepancies in drawings and BOMs; submit redlines and issues to Engineering.
- Use problem-solving techniques and QA resources when defects are identified.
- Ensure full compliance with all company policies, procedures, and safety objectives; report all findings.
- Identify material shortages and provide weekly written updates to Purchasing.
- Communicate production delays and pending orders with the Master Scheduler and production team.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in 5S, lean manufacturing, and overall process efficiency.
- Offer continual input to optimize product flow and throughput.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and sit.
- Frequent use of hands and arms for handling tools, objects, and equipment.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move items up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment:
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and potential electrical hazards.
- Occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, airborne particles, fumes, and vibration.
- Medium to high noise levels may be present.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage ambiguity.
- Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints.
- Proficient in basic math.
Preferred:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Prior experience as a supervisor or team lead.
- Experience with JD Edwards and Microsoft Excel.
- TIG and MIG welding experience.
