We’re actively looking for experienced Pattern Makers who can lay out, machine, fit, and assemble castings and parts using metal or plastic foundry patterns, core boxes, or match plates—all while prioritizing safety for themselves and others.

Job Description: Foundry Pattern Maker


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Foundry Pattern Maker

  • Safety Compliance: Follow all processes and procedures outlined in the Tyler Union Safety Management Program. Report any deviations to management promptly.
  • Machine Operation: Set up and operate various machine tools, including milling machines, lathes, drill presses, sanders, and saws.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints or drawings for casting parts or creating patterns. Calculate dimensions and plan operational sequences.
  • Quality Verification: Use measuring instruments (calipers, scales, micrometers) to ensure patterns and core box dimensions meet specifications.
  • Pattern Creation: Craft master patterns, working patterns, or core boxes based on instructions.
  • Assembly and Repair: Assemble pattern sections using hand tools, bolts, screws, or glue. Repair and rework wooden core boxes.
  • Layout and Drawing: Scribe patterns onto material using compasses, protractors, rulers, and other tools.
  • Finishing Work: Sand and finish patterns using emery cloths, files, scrapers, and power grinders.
  • Follow Blocks: Construct follow blocks if needed for molding master patterns.
  • Pattern Mounting: Mount and gate working patterns as instructed.
  • Identification: Mark identification numbers or symbols on patterns or templates.
  • Workstation Maintenance: Maintain a neat and orderly workstation.

Qualifications: Foundry Pattern Maker

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associates degree in a technical field or vocational training preferred.
  • Three to five years of related on-the-job experience.
  • Must provide personal tools not provided by the company.
