Our client is a well-established, family-owned fashion company specializing in modest women’s apparel. With multiple retail locations and a strong wholesale network, they are known for quality craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and consistent growth. They are seeking a talented Technical & Creative Clothing Designer to join their team and contribute to both design development and technical execution.


Position Overview

The Technical & Creative Clothing Designer will play a key role in transforming design concepts into production-ready garments. This individual will balance creative trend-driven design with technical accuracy, supporting the development of seasonal collections from initial concept through final production. Experience with modest apparel and/or children’s wear is highly valued.


Responsibilities:


Creative Design

  • Develop innovative and market-appropriate design concepts for modest women’s collections.
  • Create sketches, mood boards, fabric stories, and seasonal direction aligned with brand identity.
  • Collaborate with leadership to refine and finalize design assortments.

Technical Design & Development

  • Produce detailed technical flats and comprehensive tech packs, including measurements, construction notes, POMs, and grading guidance.
  • Ensure all designs are production-ready and translated accurately for manufacturing partners.
  • Evaluate fabrics and trims suitable for modest fashion, emphasizing comfort, coverage, and durability.

Fit & Sample Management

  • Lead fit sessions, evaluate samples, and provide clear, detailed comments for pattern corrections.
  • Maintain consistent sizing standards across women’s and children’s categories.
  • Oversee samples from proto stage through pre-production, ensuring quality and accuracy.

Vendor & Production Coordination

  • Liaise with both domestic and overseas factories to ensure design intent, timelines, and quality standards are met.
  • Troubleshoot construction, fit, or material issues during development.
  • Review PP and TOP samples to confirm readiness for retail and wholesale orders.



Qualifications:


  • 3+ years of experience in apparel design, technical design, or a hybrid creative/technical role.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction, patternmaking fundamentals, and fabric behavior.
  • Proficiency in standard technical design software.
  • Experience with modest apparel preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, family-business environment with collaborative teamwork.
