Our team is actively looking to make a long-term hire for an Assistant Superintendent with a multifamily construction background located in the DMV area.
An Assistant Superintendent has the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to manage the day-to-day field operations of multifamily construction projects. As Assistant Superintendent, you will oversee the subcontractors’ work to ensure a complete project in a timely and cost-effective manner. You will work to maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Two (2) to three (3) years of construction management experience in a field role.
- An undergraduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related discipline is preferred but not required.
- Working knowledge of the construction process including scheduling, contract administration, equipment, manpower, etc. as well as safety and government regulations.
- Able to work and communicate clearly and effectively with a team including tradespeople, inspectors, clients, etc.
- Ability to effectively work in sector-specific software such as Procore or Bluebeam, as well as some experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- OSHA 30 is preferred but not required.
- Must be able to travel locally to project sites as needed.
Responsibilities:
- In coordination with the Project Superintendent, become proficient with the creation and maintenance of a job schedule that defines the critical path and shows completion of the project according to contract completion dates and building turnover sequence.
- Management of the activities of multiple project subcontractors including coordination of weekly meetings, supervision of work put in place and corrections as needed, and punch list management.
- Assist with the preparation of the jobsite utilization plan for temporary facilities, material, and equipment movement, staging, and site access.
- Assist with the preconstruction surveys by documenting existing conditions prior to the start of any work at the site.
